I know this sounds too good to be true but my children are actually begging me to do grammar each day on their iPad. The reason is a nifty little app called Grammaropolis. This grammar app features catchy, easy-to-remember tunes that make learning parts of speech and how they work fun.
Each part of speech features a full-color, fast-moving video (much like the Schoolhouse Rock of my era). Some are music videos and some are not. There are little books that feature characters with the names of various parts of speech that explain what each part does. This one of the most creatively produced apps I have seen so far.
There are quizzes at the end of each video or book and then longer tests at the end of each section.
After trying out the free trial version, I immediately decided it would be well worth it to buy the full version which is now being used by both children.
It is hard to get used to children actually laughing out loud while learning grammar. I must admit, I find this app to be enjoyable also.
