Names Of God Bible: Book Review

I am very interested in biblical culture and knowing more about the original languages of the Bible so The Names of God Bible was very attractive to me. Although I knew some of the names of God, this Bible had many more. I liked understanding more about the richness of the ways in which biblical writers understood who God was. Reading the actual name of God used by a biblical writer in a particular text enhanced the meaning of the passage for me.

The Names of God Bible uses the God's Word Translation, one I was not familiar with before reading this Bible.  I enjoy the God's Word translation. It is very readable without being too casual.  It is not the only translation I use, however.

One change I might like to see in future editions: I would have liked to have references to the meanings of each name on the page in which the name was used.

I also did not find the paths with ongoing references to the name of God useful.

Overall, this has been an enjoyable Bible to read and I am sure that I will continue to enjoy it and learn from it.

The other book by Ann Spangler that I particularly enjoyed was Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus. I will work on a review of that one as well.
