Is Your Child Ready For The New PSAT and SAT?

The College Board has announced the biggest changes to it's tests in 30 years. Long criticized for failing to assess skills most important to college and career success, College Board, the creators of the SAT, are finally making changes many in education and business have been asking for over the past three decades.

The biggest danger for homeschooling parents as the tests change is not being aware of the changes and buying outdated books and other test prep materials to prepare for the brand new exams.

For the best information, check out the College Board website for comparisons of the old and new tests and the philosophy behind the changes.

Highlights of the changes include:

  • No more emphasizing obscure, difficult words
  • Fewer math topics with more depth
  • An emphasis on analyzing real documents like the Constitution
  • Calculator only allowed on certain portions
  • No required essay. It will be available as an option only.
